Highlight Moment

Every trip has its ultimate goal. And yes—we finally saw it!2025 is a year of intense Northern Lights activity. During the right season this year, you can catch a glimpse of the ethereal auroras with a bit of luck.

We booked the "Aurora Chase Guaranteed" tour group back in Taiwan. However, the weather was bad on the day we arrived in Oslo — we should have canceled it right away. Moreover, we highly don’t recommend such small-group tours (with 5-10 people). Most guides just drive you around on highways; even if you do spot the auroras, they’ll likely be blocked by the mountains lining both sides of the road. Make sure to confirm the aurora-viewing location with the tour operator before purchasing the tour.

To the naked eye, the auroras appear as a faint green band. To capture spectacular aurora photos, long-exposure photography is a must. For camera settings: Use the largest possible aperture (f/5.6 or wider) to absorb light from the night sky. Set the shutter speed to 10 to 20 seconds. Pair with a high ISO (ISO 800 or higher).

The Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II, a DSLR camera recommended by netizens for aurora photography, boasts powerful low-light shooting capabilities, a large aperture, and a 4.2x optical zoom lens.
